The Federation of Malaysia has lifted its suspension on live horse exports from Argentina, which had been in place since November 2023 due to concerns over Western Equine Encephalomyelitis. This decision comes after eight months of joint efforts by Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Senasa, and the Argentine Embassy in Malaysia. The market reopening includes a new risk analysis and the approval of a new International Veterinary Certificate. In 2022, Malaysia was the seventh-largest destination for Argentine live horse exports, and shipments will now resume under the updated health requirements.
