The latest report from the Center for Economic Research in Agriculture (SARA) in Bulgaria reveals that the purchase price for cow's milk in October is BGN 0.89/kg. However, it is uncertain how many farmers are selling at this price due to rising feeding costs and a decrease in the volume of purchased milk in the EU, which is expected to continue. In Bulgaria, purchased milk decreased by 6% from January to July 2022, and SARA predicts a total purchase of 650 thousand tons for 2022. The European Commission's Dairy Observatory also notes a decline in the volume of purchased milk in the EU, while prices continue to rise. SARA also forecasts a decrease in the number of dairy cows and dairy sheep in Bulgaria for 2022.
