The article highlights the comparison of the number of bovine and ovine animals in Turkey and the European Union (EU) as of the end of 2022, based on data from Eurostat and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). It reveals a decrease in the EU's cattle population by 251,000 to 74.86 million, with France having the highest number. Turkey's cattle numbers, at 17.24 million, surpassed those of the EU, making it the first place in total animal count. The EU's small cattle (sheep and goats) count was 70 million, led by Spain for sheep, while Turkey's sheep and goat numbers (56.266 million) and wealth (44.688 million) significantly exceeded those of the EU. Furthermore, Turkey's goat population (11.578 thousand) was larger than the combined total of the EU's goat populations, with Greece having the highest number.
