Thailand's Office of Agricultural Economics reported a 1.13% decrease in longan planting area in eight northern provinces, but a 3% increase in overall output to 978,974 tons due to good prices, better orchard management, and the use of potassium chlorate. Despite some fruit drop from hot weather, rainy season output rose by 5% to 637,501 tons, while non-rainy season output slightly decreased by 0.32% to 341,473 tons. Main export markets include China, Vietnam, and Indonesia, with strict pest and disease screening. Domestic consumption is expected to be 60,724 tons, and fresh fruit exports 96,053 tons. The government has implemented support measures for growers, including management fee support and interest subsidies.
