Lorestan province in Iran has seen a rise in its honey production, with the annual total reaching 3,800 tons and placing the province 9th nationally with 4,200 colonies. The province is prioritizing the development of the honey industry and last year distributed 3,500 tons of sugar to beekeepers. The beekeeping industry development support fund provides low-interest facilities to beekeepers, aiming to boost the industry. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Iran is the world's third-largest honey producer. The Animal Science Research Institute in Iran is working to increase honey production per colony and has reported other significant annual productions of royal jelly, pollen, beeswax, propolis, and bee venom.
