Low temperatures delay peach maturation

The Conjunctural Report released by Emater/RS-Ascar this Wednesday (19) pointed to a delay in the peach harvest in the administrative region of Caxias do Sul. According to the document, the maturation is "at least a week late" due to temperatures below the ideal. Early cycle varieties, such as BRS Kampai, are in the final phase of harvest, while PS 25399 (early), Chimarrita, Fascínio, and Charme are still being harvested. According to the report, the fruits present "medium to large caliber" in areas where thinning was carried out. The supply to the consumer is high in the markets and orchards, with lower prices. At the producer fairs, prices range between R$ 3.50 and R$ 7.00 per kilo. In Caxias do Sul, the PS 25399 variety is priced at R$ 6.58/kg at Ceasa/Serra, while fruits of smaller caliber are sold at R$ 5.00/kg.
