In 2024, agricultural production in France faced significant challenges due to wet spring weather, leading to varied sowing times and conditions. Despite these challenges, some crop yields were expected to see slight increases from the previous year. Notably, seed onion production saw a 12% increase in area and a slight increase in yield, though quality issues and a higher failure rate were anticipated. There was also increased production of plant and second-year seed onions, consumption potatoes, and sugar beets, along with a 25% decrease in wheat production due to a disappointing winter wheat harvest. Spring wheat production, on the other hand, doubled, and its yield increased by 16%. The final harvest figures for 2024 will be announced at the end of January 2025.
