Prime Minister İsmail Sabri Yakup of Malaysia is contemplating the possibility of importing wheat flour from Turkey as a means of diversifying his country's food import sources, in response to the impact of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and India's decision to restrict wheat exports on global food prices. During his four-day visit to Istanbul, Yakup engaged in discussions with Turkish industry leaders on various aspects, including food safety. Malaysia currently relies on Australia for 80 percent of its wheat requirements, with the remainder sourced from the United States, Canada, and Ukraine.
