The Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) is strategizing to boost fruit exports to countries like China, Australia, and New Zealand in 2023. The focus will be on durian and MD2 pineapple, which have high demand and 100% self-sufficiency in Malaysia. Other tropical fruits such as jackfruit, papaya, watermelon, banana, mango, mangosteen, and rambutan also have substantial export potential. The draft protocol for exporting Malaysian jackfruit to China is nearing completion, and Malaysia is expanding mangosteen planting to meet supply demands from Australia.
