Malaysia's Plantation and Commodities Minister, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, has advocated for the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in palm oil processing, citing cost reductions and revenue increases at a palm oil mill in Kuala Kangsar that has implemented such technology. The mill, operated by Minsawi Industries and powered by AIREI Sdn Bhd's AI and sensor technology, has the potential to reduce its workforce by 30-35% and slash overhead costs by 35% by replacing foreign labor with local operators of the technology. If all 446 palm oil mills in the country were to adopt this technology, it could potentially cut the need for foreign workers by approximately 8,000.
