Spain: Manchego cheese breaks its production record

Manchego cheese has broken its own historical production record in 2021. In figures, 17.1 million kilograms of Manchego cheese have been produced and the price of milk for farmers has risen 23% compared to 2020, with an average of 1.5 euros per liter at the end of the campaign. This was expressed by the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Rural Development, Francisco Martínez Arroyo, who held a working meeting with Antonio Martínez, president of the Regulatory Council of the Manchego Cheese Protected Designation of Origin. A meeting held in Ciudad Real in which matters of interest for the future of this denomination that celebrates four decades of existence this year have been addressed.
