Spain: Manchego Cheese exports grew 4.61% in 2020 while production grew 1.78%

The export of Manchego Cheese during 2020 amounted to 11,722,627 kilos compared to 11,206,232 the previous year, which represents an increase of 4.61%, as reported by the Fundación CRDO Queso Manchego, based in Valdepeñas, it's a statement. This level of export means that sales abroad represent 69.25% of total production, a rate that in 2019 was 67.38%. Regarding the production of this agri-food product, last year it grew by 1.78%: 16,630,961 kilos in 2019 to 16,927,049 in 2020. During 2020, the United States has established itself as the most consuming country and the first foreign destination in the world. Manchego cheese, says the statement. Almost half of the total sales abroad are concentrated in this country: in 2020 5,705,522 kgs were exported, compared to the 5,377,790 kgs sold in 2019, that is, 327,732 kgs more, which represents an increase of just over 6%.
