Manchego cheese has broken its own historical record. In 2021, "more cheese than ever" has been produced and it has been sold "at the highest price". In figures, 17.1 million kilos of Manchego cheese have been produced and the price of milk for farmers has risen 23 percent in 2021, compared to 2020, with an average of 1.5 euros/liter of milk at the end of the campaign, according to data from the Minister of Agriculture, Francisco Martínez Arroyo. The Manchego Cheese Protected Designation of Origin celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2022. A Strategic Plan for the Denomination of Origin will be launched, with actions that will influence the search for greater incorporation of Manchego sheep farmers, in order to guarantee generational change.
