The São Francisco Valley, a major fruit-producing region in Brazil, has experienced a significant increase in mango prices. According to the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), the average price for Palmer mangoes last week was R$3.16 per kilogram, marking a 9% increase from the previous period. The Tommy variety saw an even more substantial price hike of 21%, reaching R$3.63 per kilogram. This surge in prices is attributed to a low supply in the region and other semi-arid producing areas, and experts predict that prices will continue to rise due to the anticipated limited supply in the coming weeks.
