MAPA will regulate plant-based market to ensure fair competition in Brazil

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) will regulate the production and distribution of processed products of plant origin known as plant based to organize the alternative protein market. The idea is to provide the coexistence of protein sources – of animal and plant origin. For this, a Public Subsidy Collection was held between June and September of last year, which raised society's concerns about this regulation. The statement was made by Glauco Bertoldo, director of the Department of Inspection of Products of Plant Origin (Dipov) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Defense, during a panel on innovations at Expomeat, an international fair for the animal and vegetable protein processing industry, in Sao Paulo.
