Africa's rapidly growing population and demand for protein present significant opportunities for U.S. beef exports, as the continent Consumes mainly low-quality, grass-fed beef. In 2020, U.S. beef and pork exports to Africa increased by 25% and 53% respectively. The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is working to build awareness of U.S. red meat in targeted African markets, introducing buyers to the quality attributes of U.S. red meat through promotional videos, concept kitchens, and retail promotions. Opportunities are also seen in pork in predominantly Christian regions and major tourist destinations.
