The milk index in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, increased by 5.15% in January 2023, reaching BRL 2.20 per liter, which is approximately 20% higher than the previous year. This increase is due to limited supply and unchanged production levels. The volume of milk captured in January 2023 was 15.1 million liters, a decrease of 0.61% compared to the same period in the previous year. A survey by the Famasul System found that milk appreciation reached 185.76% from 2015 to 2022, with prices being higher in the driest months. Milk production in the state suffered a significant reduction of 45.42% in the same period, mainly due to a lack of stimulus for producers and the predominance of small-scale production.
