The Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, under the leadership of Mayor Dr. Osman Gurun, has distributed 798 hair goats to 226 women across various districts, including Marmaris, Fethiye, Kavaklıdere, Dalaman, Menteşe, Ortaca, Datça and Ula. This initiative aims to encourage small-scale cattle breeding, thereby enhancing financial independence and contributing to household economies. Among the recipients are 27 university graduate women, showcasing the project's potential to empower women through agriculture. The distribution is part of a larger plan to stimulate production and value addition in Turkey, with a focus on increasing the goat population. The program has its roots dating back to 2014 and has seen the distribution of goats since 2019, marking a significant effort towards supporting local agriculture and rural development.
