Purchase prices of live pigs in most European Union countries continued to increase, with a 1% increase compared to the previous week and a 3% increase compared to a month ago. Livestock prices were 29% higher than a year ago. Romania and Bulgaria had the highest prices for pigs, while Denmark and Estonia had the lowest prices.
The price of pork on the domestic market also increased following the increase in livestock prices, with a 0.3% increase compared to the previous week. It was 4% more expensive than a month ago and 34% more expensive than last year.
Purchase prices for slaughter cattle in Poland decreased by 3% compared to the previous week. However, it was still 2% cheaper than a month ago and 7% cheaper than the same period last year. The EU average purchase price for R3 cattle was 0.5% lower than the previous week and 1% lower than a month ago.
On the domestic market, the prices of live poultry decreased, with broiler chickens being 2% cheaper than a month ago and turkeys being 12% cheaper. The price of broiler ducks, however, increased by 4%. Chicken carcasses became 8% cheaper within a week, while turkey carcasses were 6% more expensive.
