Meat processors and HACCP are joining forces against illegal sites and violations, for higher quality and safety of food in Bulgaria.

The Association of Meat Processors in Bulgaria (AMB) will support the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) in the fight against bad practices in the sector. The two organizations will work together to limit illegal slaughterhouses and processing plants, as well as to reduce violations in registered enterprises, which threaten consumer health and undermine the reputation of the industry. The goal is to improve the quality of meat and meat products on the market and to protect honest producers, the agency reported. At a meeting, the Executive Director of the BFSA, Angel Mavrovski, emphasized the importance of both official control and self-control by meat processors to ensure food safety. He noted the effectiveness of the new method of work – cross-checks, where inspectors from one region work in another, thanks to which serious violations have been identified.
