The Muğla Metropolitan Municipality in Turkey has initiated the 'Koku Valley' project, which has cultivated aromatic plants over 30 decares of land since 2017. The project has seen the production of lavender, rosemary, thyme, sage, and various medicinal and aromatic plants. Since 2019, the municipality has distributed 97,599 seedlings to 30 citizens as part of the project. The goal is to increase the income of producers by marketing by-products like essential oils, cosmetics, spices, and herbal tea. The mayor has emphasized the importance of leveraging the value of fertile lands and encouraging farmers to cultivate high-value crops. The project also aims to position the valley as a tourist attraction.
