Mexico would produce 2.75 million tons of avocado this year

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the avocado industry in Mexico is preparing for another strong year in 2025, with a production forecast of 2.75 million metric tons, a 3% increase compared to 2024. The growth is driven by stable cultivation conditions, improved agricultural practices, and strong international demand, particularly from the United States. Exports are expected to reach 1.34 million tons, a year-on-year increase of +5%, with the United States absorbing 80% of Mexico's avocado exports by volume. Canada follows with 7% and Japan with 3%. Mexico continues to dominate the global avocado trade, supplying almost 88% of total U.S. imports in 2024. At the national level, avocado consumption continues to increase, growing almost 10% to 12 kilos per capita in 2024.
