In their study, published in the journal Animals 2021, a team of scientists from the Animal Husbandry Institute of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences is reporting good news for goat breeders about natural dietary supplements. “The most common way to improve the composition of foods with n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) is to add a variety of vegetable oils, seeds, fish oil, and freshwater and seaweed to the diet of animals. In addition, fish oil and seaweed (such as Schizochytrium limacinum) are good sources of long-chain PUFAs such as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). DHA is essential for the development and normal functioning of the brain and has beneficial effects on human health, such as reducing the risk of coronary heart disease.
