The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation of Peru (Midagri) has successfully gained access to the Brazilian market for up to 212 million consumers, opening up a new market for Peruvian citrus fruits. This achievement, a result of public-private collaboration, includes a work plan for exporting citrus fruits to Brazil, following a request from small producers in Tacna and Cusco. In addition to Brazil, Peru currently exports citrus to 46 other countries, with the United States being the primary market. The access to the Brazilian market is expected to be established in the first quarter of 2025, and may be extended to include blueberry plants, potatoes, and fresh fruits like strawberries and raspberries.
