The article highlights the Midlands province as the leader in groundnut production in Zimbabwe, with farmers having cultivated 16,783 hectares of the crop by the end of December 2021. This initiative is part of the Climate-Proofed Presidential Inputs Scheme (Pfumvudza/Intwasa), which aims to encourage smallholder farmers to diversify their crops and boost the country's export capabilities. Other provinces such as Manicaland, Masvingo, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland central, Matabeleland South, and Matabeleland North have also participated in this project, combining to plant 62,417 hectares of groundnuts. The 2021 season targets to assist 500,000 households in planting 32,000 hectares of groundnuts, with an expected production of 32,000 tonnes.
