Milk production in France drops further in February

In January, the price for conventional milk was higher than for milk with a protected origin (AOP/PGI) for the first time. In France, this flow of milk from the region constitutes an important share of the total production. The price for conventional milk was 22.9 percent higher in February than in February 2022 at an average of 46.90 euros per 100 liters with a content of 3.8 percent fat and 3.2 percent protein. The price of all milk flows together – conventional, organic and of protected origin – increased on average by 21.4 percent compared to the same period last year and came to 48.30 euros per 100 litres. The share of organic milk increased in February and reached 5.2 percent of total collection, compared to 5 percent in February 2022.
