The Mindanao region in the Philippines is piloting a new agricultural technology from Israel to enhance its upland rice farming, led by the Department of Agriculture (MinDA), in collaboration with Local Government Units, the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and US Seedworks. The project will establish 10 demo areas, each 1,000 square meters, across six regions, using pressurized irrigation and fertigation, hybrid seeds, and local varieties. The goal is to increase rice yield and allow for double cropping, with a study on cost, income, and yield to be conducted by PhilRice and MinDA. US Seedworks has pledged support by donating seeds and funding the installation of the irrigation system.
