The Ministry of Agriculture in Indonesia is pushing for an increase in the country's peanut production and exports to enhance food security and boost the national economy. The Minister, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, has directed local authorities to oversee and support farmers to prepare the market for purchases and to encourage the cultivation of other crops to maximize farmers' income. The Ministry also aims to diversify local food commodities and supports efforts to strengthen macroeconomic growth by meeting food needs and making peanuts a primary export commodity. In 2020, Indonesia saw a slight increase in peanut production, and the Ministry plans to expand the planting area to further boost harvests and start exporting peanut products.
