Russia's grain exports for the past agricultural year are preliminarily estimated at 41.7 million tons, with wheat making up 33.2 million tons, according to the Federal Customs Service. The total volume may exceed 43 million tons. Despite the lead in soft wheat and informal shipments to Kazakhstan, Russia is currently in second place in total wheat exports behind the EU, but is expected to regain the top spot for the 2020/21 season. Export activities are currently slow due to a late harvest, but are expected to pick up by the end of July. The Ministry of Agriculture confirms a forecast of a grain harvest of 122.5 million tons, including 75 million tons of wheat, despite some regions facing drought and emergency measures.
