An inspection operation by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) resulted in the seizure of over 21 tons of irregular roasted and ground coffee purchased in a public procurement in Curitiba. According to a statement from the ministry, the action, carried out at the beginning of this month, collected packages of 500 grams from various batches, including one already condemned by a laboratory report that classified it as unfit for consumption. "The others remain seized until the conclusion of the analyses. The examination identified a content of foreign matter and impurities four times above the limit of 1% established by Ordinance SDA No. 570/2022, which defines the official classification standard for roasted coffee in Brazil," said the ministry.
