Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture-SFA joint audit: encourages increase in pig exports

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM - The Singapore Food Authority (SFA) expressed its appreciation for the increased implementation of biosecurity in the pig farm of PT Indotirta Suaka (ITS), Bulan Island, Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri) which is the main supplier of pigs to Singapore. This was raised during The Annual Joint Audit Meeting online between SFA and the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH), Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) in Batam (5/3). "Farms on Moon Island have stepped up their biosecurity measures to prevent the entry of disease, particularly the agent that causes African Swine Fever (ASF) to the production area," said Dr. Astrid Yeo, Senior Director, Food Regulatory Management Division (SFA). He also appreciated the ASF free compartment certification process for the Pulau Bulan pig farm that had been carried out by the Directorate General of PKH, Ministry of Agriculture as a form of assurance that the biosecurity system was running well.
