The Peruvian Ministry of Production has announced the end of bonito fishing for 2022 in all maritime areas from October 23. However, vessels can still land the catch if they have authorization dated before the end of the fishing season. The resolution also prohibits the transport, processing, commercialization, and storage of bonito after the end of the season, unless it was caught before the ban. Additionally, a reproductive ban for the woolly resource on the Peruvian coast from October 23 to November 30 is in place, with similar restrictions as the bonito ban. The Institute of the Sea of Peru will evaluate the situation and recommend additional measures for the sustainable use of these resources.
