The Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova, Vladimir Bolea, has urged fruit producers to be realistic about the prospects of exporting apples to Egypt in 2022. Following a government delegation's visit to Egypt and negotiations with Egyptian ministries and economic organizations, an intergovernmental working group was formed to identify trade goods and calculate supply quotas under a preferential arrangement. However, the slow decision-making process reflects the underdeveloped trade relations between the two countries, with annual trade currently only reaching several million dollars. Despite these challenges, Moldovan fruit-growing organizations remain optimistic about the potential for apple, grape, and prune exports to Egypt, while also seeing potential for importing citrus, exotic fruits, and certain vegetables from Egypt.
