Experts from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have visited the Tigret-Emi Ouaddar project in Agadir, Morocco, to share their knowledge on oyster farming with local fishermen. This collaboration with the National Agency for Marine Aquaculture Development aims to improve the mariculture sector and transfer Japanese technical expertise at a lower cost. The initiative was paused in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed in August 2021, marking a continuation of the successful Moroccan-Japanese partnership in mariculture. This partnership is part of Morocco's broader strategy to boost its fishing sector and economic development, which includes the establishment of the National Agency for the Development of Marine Aquaculture in 2011.
