Morocco and Japan strengthen their cooperation in the field of oyster farming

Yesterday, Sunday, experts from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) visited the site of the Tigret-Emi Ouaddar project, near the city of Agadir, in order to exchange experiences with Moroccan fishermen in the field of developing oyster culture (clam farming). This initiative, launched in cooperation with the National Agency for Marine Aquaculture Development, aims to contribute to the advancement of the mariculture sector, through mariculture techniques applied on the high seas, and to enhance technical qualifications in the field of expertise accumulated by the Japanese, with investment at a lower cost. The head of the traditional fishing cooperative of Avtas Tigret, Mohamed Bohiya, praised this initiative, which enabled the fishermen to benefit from the rich experience of Japanese experts, noting that this pioneering project is an added value for the cooperative and for the Souss-Massa region.
