More sweet lupins and soybeans harvested in Germany

This is mainly due to the sometimes significantly larger acreage, because the yields were not good for all legumes. The cultivation of fodder peas and Co. for the 2021 harvest was expanded by a total of 11% to 219,000 hectares. And this despite the fact that, according to Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (mbH), there was less room for maneuver for producers in the spring than in the previous year. Nevertheless, the farmers decided to buy more legumes: peas (+ 18%) and sweet lupins (+ 32%) in particular benefited. The soybean area remained stable, the field bean area shrank by 2%.
