More than 20,000 farmers in cocoa cultivation areas will benefit in Ghana

More than 20,000 farmers from 100 communities in cocoa-growing areas will benefit from a US$4 million climate finance project, the result of an agreement signed between the World Bank and Solidaridad West Africa (SWA). The project aims to promote social inclusion, covering women, young people, migrant farmers and people with disabilities, who participate in climate actions such as tree planting and other climate-improving practices. These farmers will be fairly rewarded for activities that reduce carbon emissions. The World Bank and Solidaridad West Africa (SWA) have signed a US$4 million grant agreement as part of the Ghana Cocoa Forest REDD+ Program (GCRP). This program combats climate change by reducing emissions, discouraging deforestation and forest degradation.
