French farmers have increased the cultivation of winter cereals for the 2025 harvest, covering around 6.32 million hectares, which is a 6.6% increase from the previous year but 1.9% short of the 2020-2024 average. The cultivation of common winter wheat has seen a notable increase of 8.7%, while the cultivation of winter barley and durum wheat may be below average, with durum wheat cultivation potentially at its lowest in 30 years. The cultivation of rapeseed and maize is also expected to increase, while sugar beet cultivation estimates have been revised down, and grain corn production estimates have been revised up.
