More winter cereals were sown in France

More winter cereals French farmers have once again increased the area sown with winter cereals for the 2025 harvest compared to the previous year. A total of around 6.32 million hectares of winter cereals have therefore been sown for the 2025 harvest. This would be 6.6 percent more than the previous year. However, it would still fall 1.9 percent short of the 2020-2024 average. More soft wheat, less barley French farmers have once again significantly expanded the cultivation of common winter wheat. According to Agreste, 4.51 million hectares will be allocated for this purpose, 8.7 percent more than the previous year. Triticale production is also being developed. The area under cultivation is said to have increased by 14.0 percent to 291,000 hectares. However, production of winter barley and durum wheat may once again be below average.
