The Alata Horticultural Research Institute in Mersin, Turkey, has successfully grown morel mushrooms under cover for the first time. Morels are a rare species of mushroom that are naturally found in certain regions and are not widely produced outside of a few countries. The mushrooms, which weigh 400 pounds, are now being researched and developed with the goal of presenting them as an alternative product to farmers. The mushrooms are valued at 400 TL for fresh and 3,000 TL for dried.
