Moroccan exports of frozen strawberries to Japan quadruple in three years

Morocco, the fourth largest exporter of frozen strawberries in the world, is asserting itself in Japan. Morocco is rapidly expanding its presence in the Japanese frozen strawberry market, according to a report from EastFruit. Export volumes have seen steady growth for several seasons and finally reached 3,700 tonnes in the 2022/23 campaign (July-June). It is interesting to note that Moroccan exports to Japan showed a negative trend only a few years ago. However, they have almost quadrupled over the past three years, generating revenue of over $6 million during the 2022/23 campaign. Previously, frozen strawberries were typically exported from Morocco to Japan in spring, with insignificant or no volumes during other months. For the first time in its history, during the 2022/23 campaign, Moroccan exporters managed to be present on the Japanese market throughout the year.
