Morocco has exported less than 50% of its courgette and tomato export quota to the EU

Until the first week of February, Moroccan tomato and courgette exports to the EU had not reached 50% of their quota. According to data from the Prices and Markets Observatory, by January 30 of this year, Morocco had exported 128,889 tons of tomato to the EU, i.e. 4% less than by the same date of last year and less than half of the 285,000 tons total export quota it can export to the EU in the 2021/22 campaign (between October 1, 2021, and May 31, 2022). The average entry price of Moroccan tomatoes in the EU during week 4 amounted to 132.76 euro/100 kg. The quota for the Moroccan courgette in the period between October 1 and April 20 amounts to 56,000 tons. According to the Observatory, so far, Morocco has exported 22,431 tons of courgette to the EU, i.e. 11% more than in the same period of the previous campaign.
