Morocco has seen a significant increase in sweet potato exports, with a 67% average annual growth rate since 2017, reaching a record 1200 tons in 2022. The exports have been extended throughout the year, with a notable peak in June-July. In 2022, the Netherlands, Portugal, and the United Kingdom emerged as the top three consumers, marking the UK's first import of Moroccan sweet potatoes. The Middle East also shows growing interest, with Qatar and Bahrain as the main importers. As the demand for high-quality sweet potatoes grows in the EU, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, Morocco is establishing a strong presence in these markets.
