Morocco subsidizes the production of tomatoes, onions and potatoes for the first time

The Government of Morocco will subsidize for the first time the production chains of tomatoes, onions and potatoes, with between 50 and 70% of their value, due to the "high price" of the seeds of these products, the minister of Moroccan Agriculture and Fisheries, Mohamed Seddiki. During his appearance before the House of Representatives (lower house of Parliament) in a session intended for oral questions, Seddiki pointed out that the government will subsidize the production of tomatoes with aid of between 40,000 and 70,000 dirhams (between 3,600 and 6,300 euros) per hectare. The production of potatoes will also be subsidized with between 8,000 and 15,000 dirhams (between 720 and 1,300 euros) per hectare, and onion production with between 4,000 and 5,000 dirhams (between 360 and 450 euros) per hectare.
