The National Assembly Committee on Agriculture and Livestock in Kenya is advocating for increased funding to support various agricultural initiatives. The proposed budget adjustments include an additional Ksh 4 billion for the fertilizer subsidy programme, Ksh 1 billion for millers for last year’s maize flour subsidy, Ksh 1 billion for farmers in the livestock off-take programme, Ksh 0.5 billion for millers for the subsidy programme, and Ksh 400 million to combat fall armyworms. The committee also highlighted that Kenya is yet to meet the Malabo Declaration's recommendation of allocating at least 10 percent of the national budget to agriculture.
