The agricultural sector in Murcia, Spain, has seen significant growth, especially in pepper cultivation. In 2020, the region produced 165,000 tons of peppers, with exports reaching 112,000 tons, a 3.35% increase from the previous year. These exports, primarily to Germany, France, the UK, and Italy, generated a revenue of €155 million. Despite water shortages due to the region's climate, there are expectations for further growth in both production and export sales in 2021. Additionally, there are plans to obtain permission to export Murcia-grown peppers to the United States, which could provide a significant boost to the sector.
