During the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Myanmar saw a significant increase in seafood exports, with a volume of 420,308 metric tons and a value of US$521 million, marking a rise from the previous year. The country's seafood portfolio includes shad, golden eye perch, rohu, Thai crucian carp, basa fish, eel, shrimp, and crab. Myanmar is also in the process of obtaining permission to export freshwater fish to Saudi Arabia, with a focus on rohu and catla, by improving breeding technology and meeting international quality standards. Currently, Myanmar's seafood exports are predominantly frozen, with a limited presence in fresh products due to market demand and import regulations, necessitating adjustments in product structure to cater to various importing countries.
