The Golden Triangle Port on the China-Myanmar border, which was closed due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic but reopened on November 26, has led to a few Burmese watermelons entering China. However, the export of watermelons from Myanmar to China has been slow due to changes in border trade methods, resulting in poor conditions for the watermelons and melons waiting in the Shwe Lwe Inn unloading yard. The new container transfer method and epidemic prevention controls have increased transportation costs and operational difficulties for border trade workers and merchants. Domestically, watermelon farmers in Myanmar are targeting the domestic market, and the income from watermelon planting is good. The number of watermelons and melons exported has significantly reduced in the past season due to the port's closure, leading to a large reduction in the domestic melon field planting area.
