[Korea Farmers' News Agency, Reporter Kim Kyung-wook] Criticism has been raised that despite the government's massive budget allocation, the number of environmentally friendly certified farms is decreasing, and certification management is also poor. According to data submitted to the National Assembly's Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, and Food Committee Chairman Eogi-gu (Democratic Party of Korea, Dangjin, South Chungcheong) from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Food, despite the government's investment of 112.9 billion won over the past five years, the number of environmentally friendly certified farms decreased from 59,249 in 2020 to 48,668 in 2024, a 17.9% reduction. The certified area also decreased from 81,826 hectares to 68,165 hectares over the same period, amounting to 4.5% of the total farmland area. This is the fifth phase of the government's environmentally friendly agriculture development plan.
