Natural solutions are being studied in Spain to improve the health of pigs and their nutrition

The Agrarian Technological Institute of Castilla y León (Itacyl) - dependent on the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development - is in charge of coordinating a project for the control of digestive pathologies and reduction of emissions in pig fattening in order to improve the health of livestock, their nutrition and reduce emissions. Pork constitutes the most important agricultural and livestock sector in Castilla y León, representing 17.3% of the total production of the agricultural branch. The Community's pig census stands at 4.7 million heads, making it the third community in Spain in production. It should also be noted that animal feed, specifically that of pigs, is an important sector also in the Community, which amounts to 2.4 million tons and represents 13% of national production for this livestock species.
