The average prices of meat in Negros Occidental, Philippines, continue to rise for at least the third week, with pork now costing PHP225.10 per kilogram and chicken at PHP182.96 per kilogram. The Provincial Veterinary Office attributes this to existing orders with high live weight prices and farmers holding back their supply in anticipation of higher prices. The price ceiling in Metro Manila, which took effect on Feb. 8, is also expected to impact the wet market prices in the province. Additionally, the prices of carabeef, beef, and chevon have also increased.
