Paraguay: The Nelore Breed Has Economic Advantages Compared to Other Cattle Breeds When Raising Them

The Paraguayan Nelore Breeders Association (APCN) aims for a more inclusive livestock farming with the Nelore breed, which they consider ideal for entering the sector due to being more economical than others, both in cattle price and care, as it is a rustic and resistant breed. Bruno Wasmosy, vice president of the APCN, explained to La Nación/Nación Media that the Nelore breed represents around 45% of the national bovine herd and is ideal for starting in livestock farming. He pointed out that it is a breed originating from India, brought to our continent by Brazilian ranchers who made genetic modifications so they could adapt to the tropical climate. He mentioned that the result was a highly rustic and adaptable animal that could adjust to the Paraguayan climate.
